Who is eligible to attend the training seminars?
Most participants are CSU employees, however, participants from other universities,
government agencies, and private businesses are welcome to attend, space permitting.
Depending upon the course content, participants range from individual contributors,
lead workers, supervisors, and mid-level managers to administrators and occasional
department chairs.
We do not require supervisory authorization when you enroll in training seminars.
We assume that you have followed your internal procedures.
How can I be notified of seminars?
We communicate primarily by e-mail with a distribution of announcements via the web.
If you'd like to be notified of all training activities, please ask to be added to
our Professional Development e-mail notification list. Requests can be made
electronically to TheSource@calstate.edu Please provide your name, job title,
campus, and e-mail address.
How do I register to take a seminar?
All of our registration activity is automated and on-line. Links to our registration
forms will be available at http://thesource.calstate.edu/ as seminars are
announced. It's easy to register and, once you've registered, every subsequent
registration is streamlined. All we need is your basic information linked to your
e-mail address.
Is there a registration fee?
Yes. Most of our seminars are funded through registration fees paid by the campus,
the department, or in rare cases, by an individual. We can accept a credit card
securely on-line, check or purchase order. But … we do require payment at or before
the registered activity.
Where are the seminars conducted?
You'll find training throughout California … most likely on or near one of our CSU
campuses. For the 2008-2009 program year we'll be conducting seminars at the following CSU campuses: Dominguez Hills, East Bay, Fresno, Humboldt, Long Beach, Monterey Bay, San Francisco, San Jose, San Marcos, and the Chancellor's Office. The campus locations change each year.
Who conducts the training?
For the most part, our trainers are professionals from outside the CSU. Our
trainers may be consultants, attorneys, authors, or full-time professional trainers
presenting their programs at locations anywhere in the world. But you can be assured
that those who pass our rigorous qualifying standards will be among the best.
What if I'm not able to get away for training?
Good question. Our professional development offerings include a library of on-line
courses for those individuals who aren't able to travel to training or whose
schedule is restrictive. See our e-learning curriculum through MindLeaders.
How do I obtain specialized training just for my department or
campus?
We can do that, too. And, if we can't, perhaps your campus or one nearby is
already equipped to meet your needs. Just ask. |
